One thing I really like is being able to fix my own tools. I'm such a wanna be tool guy. I love when the good old boys at the tool shop go "How's the surfboardin' business goin' there bo?". I spent all morning fixing my whining planer. Not really fixing but putting on new bearings anyway. I've always loved getting new tools, and used to just buy a new planer (and grinder) every year. Now I'm teaching myself how to just fix 'em. I have like four for backup parts. But to me, that's just the coolest. A couple of years ago Paul Minton showed me how to change my oil. I know that's lame that it took me so long, but now I wanna do everything. This year I did my brakes and I haven't had a wreck yet. Oh, yeah, actually I did. Well, I'm going back into the room and I'm gonna try not to cut my finger off. The waves have been so good, my friends are in town, I took all day to fix my tool, it's official, these boards are gonna be LATE......
So yeah, I've been slacking on the blah's. I got all caught up in gettin' a little surf, and backed up in the factory. I'm super stoked right now. My boy Tim Rodgers is coming in with Marci from Cal in a few hours. We're gonna party like rock stars tonight!!! Nicole better be ready. I'm fired up 'cuz we rented the wave pool on Thursday. I love surfing Typhoon Lagoon. I know it's a novelty, and I'll be bored by the third wave but something's cool about it. I wanna tell you about the shapes I've been doing. I'm all fired up on my new Pickle. I put a "4 pack of tall boys" (4channels) in my pickle and then the speed fins guy, Adam, came into town and hooked it up. I gotta tell ya that the SpeedFins are pretty sick!! I'll be offering them in custom shapes within a couple of weeks. But I'm just all fired up, been gettin' er done. Lot's of channels! If you haven't tried 'em yet, tighten up. I do 'em pretty shallow and curvy, not like the strait up J-Bay channels. I try to keep them pretty loose while making just rediculous amounts of DRIVE. That's what separates "US" from the hippies. Drive, drive, drive...I have to confess that I've also been doing some hippy single fin retro resin die gloss polish boards. I call them the "Skillet Mess" after my favorite breakfast. I'm definitely stoked on 'em though. It's good to break out of my mold and do something a little different. I'm gonna make myself one this week. Anyway, now I'm drifting and I gotta get to work. To sum it up, it's a great time to get a custom board, wetsuit season is coming, you're gonna get all fat after Thanksgiving so tighten up, order a board to float you through the winter.
